  Scheda Oggetto
This exceptional argyle of antique silver George III has a cylindrical shape decorated with flowers and hunting scenes. This striking example of Georgian silverware is equipped with a domed pressure cover topped by a pinnacle. The lid provides access to the cone-shaped conical chamber, with a domed cover. This antique silver argyle has an impressive swan neck spout. A silvery argyle, otherwise known as silver argyll, is a plate of chafing dish; an inner chamber filled with hot water keeps the spicy sauce from one kitchen to another. The original argyll / argyle was made in honor of the fifth duke of Argyll, John Campbell (1723-1806) and his wife Elizabeth Gunning, baroness Hamilton of Hameldon. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and maker´s mark to the underside of the base, in addition to part hallmarks to the rim of each cover are very clear. 5.11´´ x 5.90´´ x 5.11´´. GBP 3.910
